Terms of Service

Last updated 25 August 2026. Construe is operated by 3sln. If you use it, these terms apply; if you disagree with them, do not use it.

1. This is a closed beta#

Construe is not generally available. Access is granted by invitation and can be withdrawn. During the beta the service is provided as is: there is no uptime commitment, no support commitment, and no guarantee that an interface will not change. We will not knowingly break a documented interface without telling the teams using it, but the beta is the period in which we reserve the right to.

2. Your account and your team#

You sign in with an email address; there is no password. Anyone who can read that mailbox can sign in as you, so keep it secure and tell us promptly if it is compromised.

Everything in Construe belongs to a team: workflows, vocabularies, API keys, documents and what they cost. A team's members hold grants that decide what each of them may do. You are responsible for who you invite and what you grant them.

API keys are bearer credentials. Anyone holding one can act as your team within the grants it carries. Keep them on your own servers, never in a browser, and revoke any you believe are exposed. Sessions minted for browsers are deliberately short-lived and narrow for this reason.

3. What you may and may not do#

You may use Construe to parse text and extract from documents in your own products and services, including on behalf of your own customers.

You may not:

Rate ceilings exist to stop abuse rather than to price you. A plan buys a pace; nothing is deducted and nothing runs out. If you are ahead of your pace, you are slowed and still served.

4. Your content stays yours#

The text your users type, the documents you upload, the vocabularies you write and the objects we produce from them are yours. We claim no ownership.

You grant us the licence we need to run the service on your behalf: to store, process, transmit and display that content for the purpose of answering your requests, and to keep the operational records described in the Privacy Policy.

Training on your traffic is opt-in, per workflow, and off by default. If you turn it on for a workflow, sampled prompts and documents from that workflow may be kept and used to improve the parser for that workflow. Public demo traffic is never sampled and never trains anything. We do not use your content to train anything for another team.

5. What is ours#

The service, its software, the elements, the runtime, and the vocabularies and workflows we publish ourselves remain ours. Some parts are published as open source under their own licences, which govern those parts.

A workflow you fork from our public catalogue is yours to change and run. The catalogue entry it came from stays ours.

6. Fees#

Beta access is currently free. When paid plans open we will tell you before any charge, and continuing to use the service after that notice is what accepts the price. Fees, once charged, are not refundable except where the law requires it.

7. Ending it#

You can stop at any time. We can end or suspend access if these terms are broken, if usage threatens the service for other teams, or if we discontinue the beta — and we will give reasonable notice unless the breach makes notice unreasonable.

Where we end access without cause, you will have a reasonable period to export your workflows and vocabularies before anything is deleted.

8. Warranties and liability#

To the fullest extent the law allows, the service is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that a parse or an extraction is correct. Both are best-effort transforms and you should treat their output as such, particularly where money or a legal obligation depends on it.

To the fullest extent the law allows, our aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred pounds sterling. Neither party is liable for indirect or consequential loss.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

9. Changes#

We may change these terms. Material changes will be notified to the address on your account, and the date at the top of this page always says when it was last changed. Continuing to use the service after a change accepts it.

10. Law and contact#

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections available to you where you live.
